So the calendar and I are currently not agreeing right now. According to the calendar it's November 30th... according to what I'm still seeing outside, it's either September 30 or March 30. This is Alberta Canada, almost December, and we still have zero snow... which is weird. But hopefully it will snow soon! Having said that, I promise that all these pictures were taken this month, even though it sure doesn't look like it. :D Enjoy! Four from the 24th. First is his royal highness, Rex. I don't know why he keeps sitting up on that railing except to just be able to see in the window... but I personally think that looks kind of uncomfortable, and that metal must be cold on his paws. But that's been one of his favourite places to sit these last few days. The frost looked neat on the frozen tilled ridges in the garden. We did some Christmas decorating that evening, and when the setting sun shone through the window, it hit the snowflakes on some of the ornaments we'd hung, and was making them glitter. It was very pretty. Then I went to the patio window and took a picture of the sunset. Three pictures of the sky on the 25th: We did the rest of the decorating on the 27th: And I took a picture of a neat-looking sheet of clouds; then, after it was dark outside, one of the lights up on the house, which have been there for a few weeks now. Sunset on the 28th: Clouds on the 29th that looked like they should have dropped some snow and didn't: Then this morning, I was walking past the front window to turn on the light so I could play the piano, and I saw this: And a short while after that, I went outside to open the chicken coop. On my way back to the house, I saw the moon still hanging high in the western sky, so I came in and took a picture of it. Tomorrow is Photo of the Month day, so I'll have to find one of the highlights of November!

I haven't posted anything for a while, but surprisingly I only have fourteen pictures. It's been quite the interesting November, weather-wise. Normally it's snowed at least a few inches by now, and we've settled in for winter. But the first snowfall we got in October melted, and we've had nothing but nice weather ever since. All the outdoor Christmas lights were turned on last night, though... which makes it kind of funny that it finally started snowing again this morning. It didn't snow long - just enough to dust everything - but I'm hoping it will dump some more later. :) Okay, here are my pictures from the last couple weeks! Sunrise on the morning of the 11th: On the 14th, I looked out the window to see Rex sitting on that post, watching us through the window... and looking extremely fat, which I thought was pretty funny. Two from the morning of the 16th. If you look close in the first one, you can see what I think is Venus in the top right corner. The next few are all from the 17th. It was so warm that afternoon, I went outside and went for a walk through the field. First, the clouds (well, that one was taken from the house three hours before I went for a walk): Then the sun reflecting off of about an inch-thick layer of ice on the pond: It was dry enough this year that the water level of that pond went down quite a bit, so all the way around the perimeter, there's a dry strip of the springy plants that are usually underwater. And on top of that are a number of snail shells: I kept walking and figured that this was about the only snow we had on the whole property (okay, not really, but it sure seemed that way). Went a little farther and found some coyote tracks over top of another layer of snow on the north side of a stand of trees. Then I took a picture of the fort my siblings and I built last fall. Something about that shot seemed really autumn-like to me. I got back to the yard and took a shot of the snow-less grass. (Sometime last week I half-jokingly told my parents that if it didn't snow soon, I was going to have to mow again.) Sunset from last night: And then these last two are both from this morning, when the snow started falling. Just enough to turn the driveway white.

Photos: Cornerstone Acres Ltd. Not all of these are from our farm, but we were at the Agri-Trade in Red Deer this past week, displaying some of our equipment, so some of these pictures will be from that time as well. First, from November 4th. The sunrise, and later a couple of cats hoping that if they look sad enough, we'll let them in the house. (Didn't happen :D) There was quite a bit of fog through the night on the 6th and 7th, so there was a bunch of really neat-looking frost on the asparagus ferns on the morning of the 7th. Very pretty! That same day, Dragon was sunning himself (or hunting) on the fence... why he chose that rail instead of the top rail, I have no idea, but it looked kind of funny. The crescent moon and what I think is Venus but may have been a star, on the morning of the 9th. And then the rest are from today. Two of the sunrise: Saw this rather funny sight while taking care of the chickens this morning. The left egg is about average chicken egg size, maybe slightly smaller. The other egg is also a chicken egg... but it's so huge it's hilarious. (One of our hens has been laying quite a few double-yolkers.) Then a moose walked through our field just as we were leaving for Red Deer. The sun and some congregating geese somewhere between here and Red Deer. And a couple pictures of our set-up at the farm show :)
All but one of these photos is from the 30th of October, and they're all sunrise/sunset pictures, so I'll just caption each of them with the time the picture was taken :) And the sunset from the 31st:
Here's the rest of the pictures I mentioned back when it first started snowing, and some more that I hadn't taken yet at that point. Five from the 25th: . . . and a bit of a play-by-play of what the 26th looked like, shown through eight photos: And yesterday's sunrise and sunset :)
They were calling for 2-5 cm of snow yesterday evening, but it was barely coming down. This morning I woke up to just enough snow to pretty much completely carpet the whole ground. It's been coming down all day and I was just informed that there's 3 inches of snow now.
I saved some of the pictures for this weekend's photo dump, but here's a couple I picked out to post right now :) (I love chickadees, especially when they're perched in a tree with snow-covered branches, even better when it's snowing. It just looks so nice!) We were away from the farm most of last week so I got almost zero pictures around here. But I think the pictures I took this past week made up for it. I narrowed it down to 30 . . . which is still quite a lot, so here's another literal photo dump. From October 7th. The mountain ash tree had a beautiful variety of colours again this year. I love it when that happens. From that same day: A swamp that actually looks nicer than it sounds, the quad trail leading through the trees, and some poplar trees. And the Lord brought in warmer weather again, long enough for us to finish harvesting the wheat - so Dad was in the combine that day, getting the rest of the crop off. Asparagus plots on the 8th: Sunset on the 14th: On the 15th the sun was shining through the mountain ash tree and making the leaves on the ground a really pretty colour. I thought it looked nice with the patches of golden-red between the shadows of the branches. Then we had an amazing sunrise on the 16th: And another gorgeous view of God's handiwork on the morning of the 18th. Also on the 18th, I was down on the ground trying to get a picture of the sun shining on some poppy petals, and the clover looked so pretty in the evening light that I had to take a picture of that, too. Then the sunrise yesterday morning made a pretty picture out of the spruce trees and the fence. It looks like snow at first glance, but I promise it's not. The clouds looked super neat for the majority of the day yesterday. My chicks . . . who aren't actually chicks anymore. I think I was half right when I guessed their genders back in May when they first hatched. Now I'm pretty sure both of them are roosters... although neither have crowed yet, they both act like roosters, have huge feet, and keep making rooster noises. And what's kind of funny is that they're still sticking together. Even though they're grown chickens now, they're still pretty much always following each other around. Usually where you see one of them, you'll see the other only a couple feet away. But anyway, they sure are pretty! I love the difference in colour in their feathers. Mama Lilly (with a younger Barred Rock hen): And all the chickens we currently have. Sunset from last night: And sunrise from this morning! I hope you enjoyed these shots, and have a great weekend!
A variety of trees and plants (October 3rd) Sunrises (October 4th) Unique patterns in the clouds from day to day (October 4th) Sunsets (October 5th) And so much more! I'm thankful for all the beautiful creation that God displays for us. I'm thankful for my family, my friends, a good harvest . . . the list could go on and on. We have so much to be thankful for!
